Gayface & Gay-Z

According to the Christian website Love God's Way, there are a number of musicians and bands currently propagating homosexuality to children through their music. Included on this extensive laundry list are Ghostface, Jay-Z, and Lil Wanye (listed twice for good measure).

The first paragraph of the site reads:

There are multiple levels of Gay Music. Some bands are what we like to call
"Gateway Bands." They lure children in with Pop Grooves and Salacious Melodies leaving them wanting more. They’ll move on to more dangerous bands and the next thing you know you’ve got a homosexual for a child...

True that! Im not sure which of your irresponsible parents have been allowing you to view this blog regularly, but if one thing is for sure, their gaydar is at an all-time low. Best of luck with your eternal struggle for personal and sexual identity, as we serve up a song with BOTH of these guys on one track!

Brooklyn: We Go Hard

First of all, yes we do.

Second of all, almost another MIA sample (Santogold on this one), another Jay banger, another one produced by Kanye. This one off of the new Notorious BIG documentary about to drop this month.

I Father, I Brooklyn Dodger them,
I jack, I rob, I sin. Amen.
Im Jacky Robinson,
Except when I run base I dodge the Pen.

Trifecta

It's beyond easy for any of these three cats to make loud annoying bangers about cake and cars. So when Nas, Luda, and Jay take the high road and make an honest ode to hip-hop culture over a layered chunky beat, it's better than good. Nice surprise boys. Pretty classic, even on the second listen.

I don't do it for the chains and the flashing rocks,
I do it for hip-hop.
^ Not sure about that one, but I like the premise.

Ain't No Love In The Heart of Dublin

Heart of the City as performed live in Dublin Ireland this year, flipped with the beat from U2's classic Sunday Bloody Sunday. Green Lantern and Mick Boogie are changing the game faster than Cam on yayo in the Lambo.

Jay-Z x Coldplay

The Full Clip is a bit overboard with Hova remixes, it's true. But honestly no one has been remixing anything else for the last few years (acapellas are abundant for most albums, no?), so our options are limited.

This one is definitely fresh and not to be skipped: A new mix of Coldplay and Jay from top shotter Mick Boogie. This combo has the potential to be a bit cheese, but it's fire. Mixit tup!

Oooh Girl

Hov spits over what sounds like a healthy mix of Reasonable Doubt meets Blueprint. In fact this sounds like a Cool Calm Pete beat. It's good to see him making tasteful choices like this instead of collabos with Jeezy or Wayne.

On top Saadiq takes it to that old 60s soul sound that only Sharon Jones & The Daptones have been able to replicate. I wish these sorts of old slow dance love songs would get en vogue pronto.

The Billprint

The new Bill Withers and Hov remix project The Billprint originally got dismissed as yet another haphazard attempt to redo Jay-Z, but then got a second chance. Good thing, because it's bananas. And nuts.

Withers on the hook something special.

Reasonable Doubt Documentary

Here's a new hour-long documentary on possibly the most classic hip-hop album ever: Reasonable Doubt. It includes just about everyone, including DJ Premier, Ski, Mary J, the guy who did the Tony Montana intro...

Man I remember playing this tape so loud when I first got my driver's license and crashing my first car about 3 minutes in while I turned up the radio. True story.

If you are as into it as I am you can watch the very large version here.

Jay-Z x Kanye x Lil Wayne x T.I. x M.I.A.

Recipe for success:
• Get together the four top MCs in the game
• Add to an already banging beat an unpredictable hook from M.I.A.s record of the year "Paper Planes"
• Release it to the wolves.

It's debatable whether or not this is from
The Blueprint 3 or from new T.I. album Paper Trail, but I'm going with the latter. I just listened to this 15 times in the last half hour.

My all-blue Yankee is my graduation cap.

The Best News Ever

New Jay-Z album:
• Produced entirely by Kanye
• Dropping in
December of this year
• First single, premiered live at MSG with Kanye titled Jockin (seen here), will be dropping within the next two weeks.

How is that for short notice?
Nas and Premier, CL and Pete Rock, Kweli and Hi-Tek...you need to realize that this formula not only works, it is practically the only way to make classic albums. Even if you are talented, 15 producers and 12 guest MCs makes your CD a hot circle of garbage.

I'm going to put my foot in my mouth and say it: Here comes the best album of '08.

Blueprint !!!

Kanye's beats are getting so dope that at some point they are going to be at a level no one is going to be able to touch, ever. Combine that with Hova's inability to retire & elevated beat picking sense (give Nas a hand) and you have a masterpiece in the works.

New example: Yeez plays an unreleased beat off of Hova's new
Blueprint 3 (!!?!?!) from a recent show at Madison Square Garden, and brings out the don himself. COMPLETELY OFF THE HINGES.

Best Thing

A lady friend of mine pointed out last night that I need to put up some more "female friendly" material up on The Full Clip. Which is probably true. I like El-P so much I forgot about ish like this:

Brand spankin new Hova and Usher collabo that's going to kill the clubs, big. Beat is bonkers. It reminds me of the higher quality R&B collabos I grew up on like Mary J & Biggie.

Jermaine The Palestinian Hobbit Dupri produced this one (seen above lurking).
