The most sacred sound in the history of humankind is Om. According to Buddhist & Hindu lore, it is the primordial sound that was present at the creation of the universe. It is the original sound that contains all other sounds, words, languages and mantras.
Om has been a staple of sound in human history, particularly in India, until now. In 2008 in America we roll with beats and rhymes like this as our Dharma. My favorite Tibetan monk diguised as a modern MC is prepping to completely shift what you thought hops:

I'm 76 Trillion Years Old
In Hollywood, everyone got a business card
In Manhattan, everyone got a business card
In New Orleans, everyone got a gun, a bible, a net,
or some type of a fishing rod.
Who needs the old Illmatic Nas that everyone has been crying about for two decades? God gave us Jay Electronica in his place, probably so we would shut up for once.
Granted he has been strangely quiet lately, but patience, patience, he's cooking up something marvelous. He is on Jay-Z's soon-to-drop Blueprint 3, and also has his own album dropping in the fourth quarter as well. The end of 2008 is going to be banana nanas.
Here is one of the few Jayo gems I haven't dropped on your noggin yet. Beautiful:

Split More Wigs Than British Parliament
Everyone has been wondering where in the blood clot Jay Electronica has been for the past 5 months. Until now.
If you think he fell off after the Mos Def debacle you are seriously mistaken. Homeboy just stepped out of the woodwork with a staff and driving gloves and basically spit the best verse I have heard in weeks.
Imaginary crime boss,
Lookin at my watch
to check how much my shine cost,
Is time lost.
...And if you don't have this one, your life is an incomplete mess:

E=MC Flaco
Summer in the city, and the hip-hop is so goddamn live it's energizing. 2008 is definitely the Invincible Summer.
The sad part is that I am missing all of the classic performances, apparently making deliberate misjudgements of what shows are worthwhile and which are not. I thought Mos was a dead duck in the industry, but he is proving me wrong. Live performances of Jay Electronica tracks, J Dilla tributes...
If you have been living on a different planet and don't have it, here is the original:

The Flows Jalapen-na
This one on constant repeat every morning this week on the way to work. This is my coffee / espresso / Red Bull.
Just a note: There is this video floating around dissing Jay and a couple of other "hipster rappers," which I have to say, Jay is NOT. I don't disagree with some of the sentiments expressed in this as far as these mediocre 80s retro guys popping up everywhere go, but leave Jay out of it, son. He is a God MC. Ask Nas.
