NY Oil Speaks On Nas' Untitled

Nas' most recent album Untitled received mixed reviews, was listened to briefly by most, and then disappeared from public dialogue.

Why? Because the album achieved what it set out to: create a buzz based on a controversial word, sell to the masses (particularly young urban youth), and make Nas a ton of money. This would be fine had he not chosen a word like Nigger to be his controversial keyword, then subsequently not addressed a single real issue pertaining to the title on the album. What exactly young black men walked away with from this album is unclear, though probably a new-found ability to metaphorically compare a woman to fried chicken is at the top of the list.

I knew he had no cannon fodder for this album before it even dropped. It was clear at the Grammy's he didn't know what he stood for.

NYOil has been the only real MC willing to stand up to Nas on this. This cat is our generation's KRS-One...

No. Thank you.

You are the first dude in hip-hop in a LONG time who has something positive and articulate to say.

Keep it up.

Nas puts thought into his music and takes risks -- yall really think tha "Untitled" LP is tha best thing he could come up with to make money? Fuck outta here....

With all tha wack and regressive music being pumped out by both major labels and independents alike, all yall should pick a better target than Nas, who is at least saying something with his music. Did yall even listen to his album?? Tell me "Testify" isn't saying something that no other rapper would even think of, much less be able to articulate. Almost every other song on tha LP is meaningful and reflects thought.

What Nas said on tha Red Carpet at tha Grammys made sense and is a legitimate analysis of global race and class politics. If yall don't get it maybe thats cuz YOUR confused, not Nas. I guess yall rather he say some dumb shit and shuffle along so no ones feathers get ruffled. Or so yall can understand it.....

I never even heard of NY Oil but with a name like that, no wonder he likes talkin slick. He should bow down before Nas, he doesn't even have tha credentials to look Nas in tha eye much less criticize his LP. Does NY Oil EVEN HAVE AN LP OUT??! WTF.

Away from computers and tha internet theres a real world happening. Say what you want about Nas, but dude is tryin to have a convo that relates to tha real world. Thats more than i can say for 95% of rappers today. Yall need to fall back.
