Walk Wit Me

As predicted, Raekwon's much anticipated Purple Tape 2 is a bust. Rae chose a few nice beats from Dilla and Dr Dre, but picked his usual set of uninspired ones as well, and failed to make his mark lyrically. The album has its moments on joints like 10 Bricks and Catalina, but the rest is...well...let's just say I'm not memorizing any of the lyrics anytime soon.

But this random UK bonus track is the real diamond in the rough (how does the UK always get bonus tracks that are better than the album itself?).

Hey... actually "Walk Wit Me" is the iTunes bonus track while the UK bonus track is called Badlands (ft. Ghostface). The track is dope, I think is the best of the album! A bonus track? C'mon now!!

Not sure Im buggin.

There is really nothing on OB4CL2 that sounds truly original and groundbreaking. There are tracks that have some dope beats, but nothing is that cohesive. Even my two favorite tracks, Cataline and 10 Bricks, which are really dope, dont fit together, or with the rest of the album.

You want to make a concept album a decade later? You better come with something that sticks like glue to itself.

This Scram Jones beat is on some Japanese Ninja Shaolin Gutter Shit. Make an album like this! Across the board. This is innovative and sounds like it's part of the OB4CL ilk.

I dunno. I barely even listen to the album and Ive had it for like a week.

Well.. you're obviously entitled to your opinion. Not gonna argue with you about what you're not feeling, but I know a lot of people whose judgement of music I fully respect and they all love this album. Maybe we're listening to 2 different things. That 'Walk Wit Me' track is OK. There are a handful of joints on the album that are of the same or better caliber in my opinion.

Everybody else is saying the shit is true, worthy of bringing back that decade old title. When I get back to town I'm buying it. Rae has let me down every time since his debut, so like you, I was/is hesitant.

I could see either point on this album. There are a couple misguided choices but for the most part I'm into it. Better than Jay-Z and Kid Kudi... I haven't been able to get through one straight listen on either of those.
But I'd rather listen to Fresh Daily, GDP or Big Twins latest than any of these other big names.

Rap record of the year IMO. Maybe my expectations where low but Rae really returned to form on this one.

There are tracks on his mixtape from like 3 years ago that I listen to more than the joints on this album (Blue Eagles? That's that OB4CL2 shit right there).

I was wondering where Baggage Handlers, State of Grace et cetera disappeared to. This is the same cat who thought Immobilarity was a good sequel, so his beat/track choices are subject to discussion.
