City of God’s Son is a multi-media homage to early 90s New York hip-hop, created by director and independent filmmaker Kenzo.
It is a two part project:
• The first part is a "soundscape" starring legends such Nas, Jay Z, Ghostface, Biggie Smalls, Raekwon, Samuel Jackson, Delroy Lindo, and Laurence Fishburne. The entire score--composed of original music production, classic hip-hop verses, dialogue samples, sounds from the city, and narration--is a visceral journey into the feeling of classic early hip-hop. It is more of an experimental art project than a linear album.
Kenzo recommends listening to this project uninterrupted, at night, with headphones and focus. You can download the album/soundscape (and should read up more on this fascinating project) at his website.
• The second is a visual installation coming this summer to NY's Chelsea art district. It will be a combined effort of cinema, theater, and opera. The date is as of yet undecided.
