Of all the presidential songs that are bound to start dropping like boulders, I'm glad Ali got em first. What a day. What an anthem.
I watched Obama's fundraising...
groundbreaking
and found out where it came from
Not corporations, but real folks donating
I mean I saw thugs reading newspapers,
People who've been ignored for so long
that they saw every reason to get involved
Start stepping forth
became a heavy force
and made their voice
change the presidential course..
Today I got my hand on my heart
I might just go plant a flag in my yard.

dont get me wrong im excited too, but this statement is factually incorrect:
"I watched Obama's fundraising...
groundbreaking/and found out where it came from/Not corporations, but real folks donating"
more like
"Top 10 Corporate PAC Contributors:

JPMorgan Chase & Co $475,112
Sidley Austin LLP $370,916
Skadden, Arps et al $360,409"
hope is one thing. historical revisionism is another
Ya I definitely see your point...
For the record that's Ali saying that, not me. Though I did think it is true on some levels compared to most previous campaigns in history. I read recently that the average donation from a middle/lower class person was $90, and that many people donated multiple times when they got new paychecks.
Im pretty sure that Obama's campaign raised the most money from the public sector in history. I will probably stand corrected but I think that was on Democracy Now! right before the election.
Obama - like all other candidates - received money from corporations, but he also raised more money from individuals, in small donations that any candidate in history.
I saw Ali with Mr. Lif in DC the night after the election. Great show.
thanks for pointing that out DJ. ive heard that far too many times- hope is indeed one thing but the "facts" are indeed getting blown out of proportion.
i could be wrong big rils but i do believe Ron Paul actually holds that record.
