Seeing that few "regular" folks are financial analysts, the current credit crisis is a mindboggling mystery. What we do know is that our kids might have trouble going to college, our parents aren't retiring any time soon, and in a few months porridge and dirt will be commodities. Why?
Well here are two commentaries that might have a bit of insight. The first is from Paddy Hirsch, Marketplace's Sr. Editor, who metaphorically compares lost mountaineers in the Antarctic to the current failing banks. Best explanation around. The second is from my man ABOVE, who uses the banks as a prop for their own failure.

Im going to get KILLED for this, but I cant place it either. Should be obvious.
i think it's off the first or second track from the Purple Tape... dammit, my brother got my cd wallet with it, so i can't even check right now.
Guaranteed it's not on the Purple Tape, just checked it again. And I asked my man who should know and he couldnt remember either.
We're all lost on this one.
maaaaaaaaan. i think your just going to have to make a post whenever this one get'd figured out. could it be off a killah priest joint maybe? i'm thinking Wu or Wu affiliates.
isn't it the beat from the Beatnuts & Dead Prez track "Look Around"? Same sample is used and it sounds very similar.
How old is that video? He describes the initial Paulson plan, but as of last weekend it looks like the US is gonna start to buy out the banks in exchange for equity shares instead of straight buying up the toxic assets by guessing at their actual value.
I think Jay got it with the DP/Beatnuts joint: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJ_IBw9JTE4
