The new Santogold x Diplo mixtape Top Ranking is finally in my greedy little paws. And it is unlike any mixtape I have heard in a long time, especially in that it's clear that some chances are actually being taken. How we like it.
I don't know if it's because I've had a few Saranac Cherry Wheats, but Icarus is possibly the best thing I have heard all year.

This weekend, driving to and from the Cape, I listened to the original Guns of Brixton easily 10 times, thinking that someone, anyone, needed to remake this song. Except for the "boingggg" noise that they throw in, it's a near perfect gansta-ragga song, done by a bunch of English Punks. Clearly, I need to step my game up 'cause Diplo and Santogold got me beat.
Shit is phenomenal. Just phenomenal.
