Pras from the Fugees took it upon himself to live on Skid Row for 9 days with absolutely no money as a homeless man, and created a full length feature documentary on the experience. Skid Row happens to be the most violent section of LA County, and it's a wonder he made it through the film unscathed, especially with cameras around.
Other films devoted to the topic of homelessness and hip-hop which are definitely worth your time are the amazing Dark Days, about homeless people living underground in the Amtrak station in NYC (soundtrack by DJ Shadow), and 1 More Hit, which follows the battle with crack addiction of Pharcyde member J Swift.
