It's surprising to say, but it's the truth: With the recent release of Nike Sportswear, you shall soon be defunct, young gun streetwear designer. Basically like the SB line, but much more hip-hop oriented, Nike has begun to drop a collection of flourescent windbreakers, remade Air Max 90s, laser etched dunks, and ACG Tech Hoodies with subtle colors and prints that speak to the most elegant and focused elements of hip-hop fashion.
Again, I'm not a gear head but as a designer I do appreciate thought-out design like this that isn't loud and over the top.
I attribute pretty much all of Nike's recent efforts to define streetwear as a primary product line to my old friend Jake Davis, who was one of the first cats to compile documentaries for Nike on kicks culture in NYC before it blew up. I'm talking back when no one knew about dunks except the real heads.
